I finally got home from school for break. It's not as weird as it was for Thanksgiving, but I'm still not as at home here as I would like. Part of it is that I haven't been around and life moves on, and part of it is that I'm not used to being here the same way.

My new glasses aren't as right for me as I thought. I like them, but I don't have the confidence to wear them around potential babysitting clients and in certain situations, and I'd rather have a pair that I'm comfortable wearing all the time, so we're trading in the frames and cutting down the lenses to fit in the other glasses. On the bright side, I have the right prescription now.

Fandom-as-exes Meme - I just realized how much of a lurker I am. Also, I couldn't just list one for some things.

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: Smallville or Oz, but it wasn't the famdoms so much as the actual shows.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Big Wolf on Campus or Oz

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: Supernatural (but I'm still smitten)

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Make Me a Supermodel

The steady: J2

The one you repeatedly cheat on your steady with: Entourage

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: Drake & Josh

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: Harry Potter

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere: Buffyverse

The one you slept with on the rebound who still smiles at you, yet you have no interest in any more: Rent

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Twilight.

The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Torchwood

I'm avoiding finishing my work for my English portfolio so I started watching the Luke/Noah storyline on As the World Turns, the soap my sister watches. I never thought I would watch one and that if I got close it would be a crazy telenovela, but here I am at about three in the morning, wacthing segments cut to focus just on their story. Some of the stuff on the show is ridiculous and there were parts that made me want to rant about bisexual erasure, but Van Hansis is SO DAMN PRETTY. They could have put him with almost any guy and I would watch.

Also, I'm thinking about places to go for study abroad. I like the idea of going to the Netherlands, Wales, London, Australia, New Zealand, India, and maybe South America if my Spanish is strong enough. My school has some cool programs, but right now Wales and the Netherlands (preferably Cardiff or Swansea and Amsterdam or Utrecht) are at the top of my list, and we don't have programs to either places, which could mean a higher price to go. My next choices are London, Australia, and NZ. We've got a cool 3-week program in India that I'd like to go on though. I'd love to go back to Peru or visit Argentina, but I don't plan on doing the classes that lead to the Argentina programs and there don;t seem to be any programs in Peru that don't require fluency.

That's all.

They will watch Sesame Street and, if it is available, Pancake Mountain. Both have amazing guests.

This is what happens when I surf YouTube. I feel the need to point silly, boring things.

This is why I need to get a real schedule for taking my meds. I can feel that underlying sadness again.

I want a copy of The Alchemist in Spanish so much it's crazy. I know I probably would have tons of trouble getting through it even though I've read the English version twice, but my goal is to understand as much of El alquimista as I can without cheating. If anyone on my flist has suggestions of other Coelho books, let me know. I'm dying to see the outcome of The Experimental Witch Project, but I should probably read The Witch of Portobello first. Reading Coelho's bio has kicked off an obsession with his work.

I found that there are lots of pretties here. I also love [livejournal.com profile] hollow_art. Icons are wonderful and I wish I had space for more. Whatever, that's why I have IJ.

I mentioned fashion blogs yesterday. It got me thinking about them so I went on Google and managed to find one (http://www.fashiontoast.com/) that I could just stare at and enjoy the pictures. Weird. I think it's the fun red shoes and non-clothes shots (crushed yogurt cup, scenery). If I had one it would probably end up being me making fun of clothes like what I did at Gallery Hop recently until they got mad at us for taking pictures in the store. It was worth it for the pictures of metallic stretch pants and me dressed up in neon green bike shorts over jeans with a badly buttoned neon orange thermal. I want to go back and take more pictures o my friends and me playing dress-up.

I am so out of babysitting shape thanks to a month of no work. I was sitting last night for three little girls and woke up sore. Carrying kids up and down stairs can be a real workout when you haven't done it recently.

Still no word from the roommate. I emailed her one or two weeks ago (since every day is pretty much the same for me, I can't remember dates that well), but she's MIA. I have to get her answer about a minifridge for the room before I leave for my early program. I'm nervous enough that we won't get along and I want to know what to expect.

I forget where I snagged it from, sorry.

1. Bold the names of guys you'd definitely shag.
2. Italicize the names of guys you might shag after a little persuasion.
3. Leave the guys who don't do anything for you alone.
4. Put a question mark after the guys you've never heard of. ?
5. Strike the guys you wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
6. ADD THREE OR MORE OF YOUR OWN AT THE END.
I'm not that easy, I SWEAR )

Josh Radnor gave a great speech for graduation. It was funny, poignant, and positive without being annoying. His on-the-spot stuff was good and made everyone laugh, and my mom won't stop talking about how fantastic he was. I kind of wish I had hidden paper and a pencil in my robe so I could get some of the good quotes written down. He's also really handsome in person. I'm glad I didn't blush when I shook his hand after they handed me my diploma.

While we were waiting in the theater to be let onto the field where graduation was going to be held, Josh came in and sat in the back. When I saw him it was weird in the way I imagine someone stepping out of a tv and sitting in a room with you would be (minus impossibility of that situation of course).

Unfortunately, the only quotes I can remember are
-"Uh, Josh Radnor told us not to listen to out brains."
-"Dude, our brains are telling us to say that!"
-"So get comfortable with the discomfort of it."
-"Sixteen years ago you were two."

You're Watership Down!

by Richard Adams

Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you're
actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their
assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they
build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You'd
be recognized as such if you weren't always talking about talking rabbits.

I was never attracted to Chris Meloni when I had only seen him in SVU and Wet Hot American Summer, but I've come to appreciate why people want in his pants. My weird thing about noses prevents me from going ga-ga, but otherwise day-um. Lee Tergesen has grown on me as well.

I def. have a thing for Kirk Acevedo after seeing him as Miguel. He's like a big puppy I want to hug.

I love babysitting for the family I sat for tonight. The kids hardly need me for anything, but the boy is adorable and has GREAT taste in music (even as an incoming second-grader) and the girl is a sweetheart and looks up to me (awww).

I like parentheses.

I couldn't decide between two answers for one of the questions, so I also got Cyril as a result. The Beecher description sounded more like me.

My job pays $10 an hour! Not bad for a kid my age. It exhausts me though - children are crazy.

Exams are killing me, not the tests as much as trying to study. I'm horrid at it. My AP Bio exam kicked my ass (I think), and my Spanish one will probably leave me bleeding in an alley somewhere, but aside from that the tests aren't too terrible.

Also, a quiz result because I didn't want to study.

Your Brain's Pattern

Your mind is a multi dimensional wonderland, with many layers.

You're the type that always has multiple streams of though going.

And you can keep these thoughts going at any time.

You're very likely to be engaged in deep thought - and deep conversation.

My sister is a very talented musician and actress who loves to sing, play guitar, and play flute non-stop, loves to get attention, and has absolutely no intrest in ever auditioning for a play or musical or performing as a musician anywhere. If I had that talent I'd be working my butt off to do something with it. Sometimes life stumps me.

I couldn't sleep last night and this is what my brain had to get out before it would let me rest:

I hear it in my head
Words of a snake slithering
Dragonfly paths and bird wings
Words that aren't there
That don't exist, aren't real
They fill my head
Try to escape
I ramble endlessly
But it does little
To empty my mind
I can't find peace.

I don't actually understand it at all. I'm used to not liking my stuff, but this is the first time I've not been able to figure it out.

For some reason, ALL of my links and bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox are GONE! I had so much stuff that was important to me bookmarked that I'm freaking out. I could try to have the people at my mom's office fix it, but I don't exactly want them seeing some of that stuff. Those guys do not need to see my list of favorite stories.

Because I haven't posted any in a while.

Your Theme Song is Back in Black by AC/DC

"Back in black, I hit the sack,
I've been too long, I'm glad to be back"

Things sometimes get really crazy for you, and sometimes you have to get away from all the chaos.
But each time you stage your comeback, it's even better than the last!

You Are Strawberry Ice Cream

A bit shy and sensitive, you are sweet to the core.
You often find yourself on the outside looking in.
Insightful and pensive, you really understand how the world works.

You are most compatible with chocolate chip ice cream.

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You'd like to your lover to think you are flexible and ready for anything!

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.
